Learn and Use Spanish Every Day with MamaLingua!
A second language is an advantage you can give your kids starting in their first year. But how do you teach a second language if you don’t know one yourself? With MamaLingua, you'll learn new words and phrases you use with your baby, toddler or young child every day.
Your Turn to Learn,
Your Turn to Teach
MamaLingua offers a way for parents to learn Spanish and teach it to their children. Learn, then teach. How do we do it? Through everyday routine.
MamaLingua is based on something called “chunk” learning. It’s all about breaking down information into bite-sized pieces that are related to one another. Like in daily routines.
If you do something every day, like feeding your kiddos, you can start to build your vocabulary around food one word at a time. The information “sticks” because it’s relevant, and because you use it every day.
Vocabulary and Phrases
You'll Use Every Day
With MamaLingua, you’ll learn vocabulary and phrases you can use every day with your kids. The app covers bathing, eating, changing, playing, sleeping and lots of other common routines. It’s specifically designed for parents of little ones, and it’s the only app of its kind.
You Got This, One Word
At a Time
Like you, we wanted to give our kids a leg up in learning Spanish, so we created an app to do it. We're learning and teaching right alongside you. You got this. One word at a time.
Each vocabulary word and phrase includes text, phonetics and audio. (And did we mention the app is bilingual? Native Spanish speakers can learn and teach English, too.) The app includes more than 900 words and phrases in each language.
Who’s It For?
MamaLingua is for parents of young kids. While a two-year-old can probably figure out how the app works (it’s that easy), it’s really designed for adults. If you know little to no Spanish, awesome! The app is for you! (If you’re fluent in Spanish and your significant other is ready to learn, then the app is for them!)
MamaLingua is divided into 18 categories.
Ready for the list? Deep breath: Animals, Bathing, Changing, Colors, Common Phrases, Eating and Drinking, Feelings and Emotions, Friends and Family, Getting Dressed, Greetings and Everyday Phrases, Health, Manners and Behaviors, Modes of Transportation, Numbers, Parts of the Body, Playing, Reading, Sleeping. Whew!
How Do I Use It?
We like the idea of targeting one routine at a time. Save your practice words and phrases to your favorites list and use them during that routine. Over time, those words will start to stick, and your little one will learn them, too. Tah-dah! Language acquisition! Want more ideas? Check this out.
How Does It Differ from Other Apps?
If you’ve used another app to begin learning Spanish, terrific! MamaLingua can be used right alongside it. The difference between other language-learning apps and MamaLingua is the specific focus on language you use every day with your young kids.
Will I Confuse My Child?
Like you, we’ve heard a lot about early language development. We even wondered whether or not our kiddos would get confused learning a second language while learning their first one. Nope! Read more about it here.
We believe that learning a second language feeds the brain and the heart. When you learn another language, you not only learn a new way to communicate, you learn new ways of perceiving the world.
This lady says it best: “When you learn a foreign language, you benefit not only yourself, but also society. You develop empathy; you start to see that the world looks different, depending on where you stand and what you speak.” Yeah. Like she said.
