*Great for learning key words of the world around you.
“Richard Scarry’s Best Word Book Ever” (“El mejor libro de palabras de Richard Scarry”) is a great book to start building your vocabulary as you narrate your day to your young child. The book includes all the words you’re likely to need when out and about with young kids – it covers construction trucks in the city, a visit to the airport, a trip to the dentist, and so much more.
And did I mention the book is bilingual?! We’re learning words in both English and Spanish! (I honestly had no idea how many different types of constructions trucks there were!)
My oldest has been reading this book alongside me to build his reading fluency, and I’m currently using it to help my bilingual kids build their vocabulary as we play the “Name it!” game, or “Can you find..?”
Above all, I like that this book includes sentences as well as key words, because it’s important to hear language in context – not just memorize vocabulary. Each page includes questions to keep your child engaged, and the layouts are stimulating and encourage discussion of every detail. “Richard Scarry’s Best Word Book Ever” is a great book for all ages and a wonderful gift to give to a family starting down their language-learning journey.
Enjoy a short clip of me and my daughter reading this book together!
